 무려 7년 동안이나 긴 공백기를 가지고 발매가 된 이 앨범... 아 ,,이 이앨범을 들을때는 사뭇 눈물까지 나오게 된다.
그의 힘들고 고된 삶이 웬지 뼈저리게 가슴에 와 닿는다. 워렌 제본의  첫번째 앨범하고 이 앨범을 들었을때는 같은 사람이 노래를 했는지 의문이 갈 정도로 바뀌어져 있다.  야생마 같던  웨렌 제본이 긴 세월의 풍파에 노련하고 완숙되어져 다듬어져 있다. 하지만...
 그의 노래를 들으면 절망과 고독이 시리게 느껴진다. 그는 겉으로는 온화하고 정교하게 다듬어져있지만. 강한 사람들이 그러하듯이 속으로는 너무나 곪아져있다. 가슴이 타 들어가서 아무것도 남아있지 않은사람처럼.. 절망에 끝에 있는 사람처럼 느껴진다.

이것은 가사를 보아도 어느정도 알수가 있는데 ,마약 중독자의 한탄을 노래한 -  "Carmelita의 곡도 그러하고, 무법자의 발라드를 노래한  - 프랭크 및 제시제임스.... LA 의 삶과 욕정의 내부의 모습을 담은 - 프랑스 흡입기 (the french inhaler),   처마밑에서 자포자기한 자(desperados under the eaves), 린다 론스테드가 커버를 한 ..지지지도 못난 나(poor poor pitiful me) 등 ,,절절히 담아져있다. 이 앨범을 발매하고 그는 많은 인정과 영광을 받았지만 이미 웨렌 제본은 이때 보드카와 마약으로 벼랑 끝으로 가고 있었다.


 웨스트코스트에 기반을 둔 이 앨범은 크레딧을 보더라도 많은 동료가수들이 참여를 하고 있는데 그동안 세션뮤지션으로서 여러 앨범에 참여를 하였고 여러곡을 작곡을 한 기반이 있기 때문일 것이다 .사실  이 앨범에서 린다론스테드는 많은 곡을 가져가 프레티넘 앨범을 내게 되기도 한다. . Everly brother에서는 오랜기간 피아노를 연주하였다.

이 앨범은 한곡을 고른다는 것은 거의 불가능 할 정도로 전곡이 다 좋다. 하지만 오늘의 기분에 따라 골라  본다면 hasten down the wind. 그리고 처마밑에서의 방랑자....
